If you are applying embossing or debossing to your printed product, you will need to set up a separate file to specify which areas of your design you would like to apply your finishes to. This requires a black and white vector-only PDF file
The step-by-step instructions below will show how to produce this business card:
Set up your design files according to the specifications outlined in your selected product's page. This should be a CMYK PDF or JPG file, saved at 300 DPI at 100% scale, and should include a 1/8" bleed and safety margin.
For detailed instructions on how to properly set up your file for printing, visit the How To Prepare Files For Printing page.
You will need to create a separate set of files to specify where you would like to apply the embossing or debossing. This can be done for one side or both sides of your printed project, but the file should be set up identically to your original file in terms of dimensions.
Create a black and white, vector-only PDF version of your original file. The black areas will indicate the embossing or debossing and the white areas will indicate the parts of the design to be left alone. It is recommended that you verify that the alignment of the black and white separation matches up with your original file, which can be done within your design software.
Please include "Emboss" or "Deboss" in the title of your black and white, vector-only embossing or debossing file.
Upload your files when you are prompted to during the ordering process, and your printed pieces will be well on their way!

You will need to create a file for each of the finishing processes you would like to apply. For example, if you would like to do both foiling and embossing, you will need to make one file for foiling, and a second for embossing.
You are not required to submit CMYK design files for Black or Metallic business cards, as these stocks only use finishing processes to create designs. To specify your design for these types of cards, please follow the guidelines in Step 2.
